Designer Deck's / Recipe for estimating
It's important to our team, that we provide new customers with as accurate of an estimate from the get-go! Although a FREE onsite consultation is a mandatory part of our process and a means of confirming your details, we've been doing this long enough to know the right questions to ask, so that you get answers you want from the start.
When you reach out to Designer Deck for some initial pricing, our strategy (as always) is to collect as much information in order to provide you with approximate pricing for your consideration. The following questions will likely be asked of a new customer, as a means of breaking down a concise quotation to either include or omit these details.
What is your product(s) of interest?
If you're unsure of which product you'd like, we'd encourage you to visit our products page and use the compare feature to weigh your options and learn more.
Do you have the dimensions of the surface area you wish to cover?
We'd appreciate these measurements in feet. If you'd like some help obtaining the dimensions of your surface correctly, we'd encourage you to see our DYI page and refer to 'dimensioning your project'.
Are there any support railing brackets that will require cutting around?
If so, we'll need to know their shape (rectangular, square or irregular) and how many there are.
Are there any other obstructions that will require cutting around? such as large columns, electrical boxes, fixed furniture etc.?
If so, we'll need to know their shape (rectangular, square or irregular) and how many there are.
Is the shape you wish to cover with deck tiles, simple or complex?
Simple shapes are rectangular or square where as complex shapes involve angles, multiple cut-outs and/or curves (see examples below)
Will any existing materials need to be removed or repaired before tiles are laid?
Are there any pre-existing surfaces or materials such as a structural decking, tiles from another supplier or anything else fixed that you'd like removed by us? Keep in mind, that this will factor into the quote if additional labour is required.
If the job is not located in a building with access through elevator or will the materials need to be located to a specific floor or area of your home?
If the surface to be covered is difficult to reach, this will also factor into the quote when additional labour is required.
Where is this job located?
Designer Deck services Toronto including GTA and surroundings. Anything jobs that are located outside of this area, may be subject to additional travel fees to compensate for time.
How much flooring or square footage of product you require
We quote according to the volume of product needed to cover your space, in your material of choice; based on the measurements of your balcony, terrace or patio/deck, we offer different rates for professional installation. We also require a minimum of 80sq.ft in order to come out and install deck tiles. You are of course welcome to purchase the product directly from us and DIY, if you so wish to avoid the expense for additional material.
Are there any other details that may be of importance to us or you'd like us know about?
The more you can provide us with, the better! Accurate estimates are a product of detailed information and we rely on you, when inquiring about some initial pricing before we come out to confirm.
Are you a returning customer?
Welcome back! We truly appreciate you considering us once again. PLEASE let our agents know that you've purchased from us before, when asked about 'other details'. Any valued and returning customer is given preferred pricing upon return.
